The purpose of the SWNA is to advance and promote the civic, economic, and social welfare of the Snow Woods neighborhood community as well as safeguard the character of our neighborhood. We meet several times a year at the Ten Eyck Administrative Services building (located at 18700 Audette St.) to plan events and address issues that affect our unique and historical neighborhood.

What is the SWNA?
SWNA stands for "Snow Woods Neighborhood Association.” The SWNA is a registered with the State of Michigan as a domestic non-profit corporation.

I've never heard of the SWNA, are you a new organization?
No. The SWNA was originally established in November, 1979 and re-incorporated in March, 2010.
What are the geographical boundaries of the SWNA?
As of 2018, the SWNA boundaries encompass section 34 of the City of Dearborn's association map. The SWNA area starts at the intersection of Southfield Freeway and Outer Drive and extends along the city limits of Dartmouth St. to Pelham Rd, and then progresses further along W. Outer Drive to Village Road, over to Rotunda Drive and then all the way to south-bound Southfield Freeway.
How can the SWNA make up your own boundaries?
As a registered Michigan domestic non-profit corporation the SWNA can define its own boundaries and rules just like any corporation.
Does the SWNA plan on expanding further?
No, not at this time. We currently have over 2,600 residential addresses within the current SWNA boundaries.
Is the SWNA a tax exempt organization?
No. The SWNA is a registered Michigan domestic non-profit corporation, but it is not a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
When and where are meetings held?
General meetings are held usually once a month from September – November and March – June. The Board of Officers meets in July or August and in February.
Do you provide minutes from your meetings?
As a private organization we are not required and do not give out our minutes to everyone. If quorum was met, a formal meeting was held and a copy of meeting minutes are available to all Voting Members that have paid to upgrade their memberships to “Voting.”
I'm a member of the Facebook page "Snow Woods Neighborhood FB Group." Does that make me a Voting Member of SWNA?
No, the Facebook Group only provides you with the opportunity to join discussions. It does not make you a voting member of Snow Woods Neighborhood Association of Dearborn, Michigan.
I'm a member of the "Snow Woods" neighborhood on Nextdoor.com. Does that make me a Voting Member of the SWNA?
No, Nextdoor.com provides you with another way to communicate with neighbors. It does not make you a voting member of the Snow Woods Neighborhood Association.
Why do you charge dues for Voting Members?
Dues payments help offset some of our operating costs such as annual state registration, snowwoodsna.org, and neighborhood meeting signs. Dues along with other fundraisers allow us to plan and organize fun activities for the neighborhood.
What does being a Voting Member get me?
Voting Members are allowed to vote on decisions or issues which the Association is looking to support or not; the opportunity to chair or assist in committees, and the opportunity to run for an officer position. Additional “Members Only” benefits and events. And more.
I'm not a paid member, can I still attend your meetings?
Yes! Please attend and join the discussion! Please understand that if a vote is taken at the meeting you will not be able to vote unless you have paid to upgrade your membership voting.
I want to become Voting Member, how much is it?
Dues are $15.00 per year for each household. You can sign up online ($15.80 -- online convenience fee) at the website www.snowwoodsna.org or at a general membership meeting.
I don't live within the SWNA boundaries, can I still join?
Dearborn residents that do not have an active association in their neighborhood, outside of our defined boundaries, are welcome to join as a Voting Member and may vote and serve on committees but cannot serve as an officer.
I have an active neighborhood association in my area of Dearborn, can I still join?
You are welcome to join as a Voting Member and may vote and serve on committees but cannot serve as an officer.
I don't live in Dearborn, can I still join?
These memberships are evaluated on a case by case request. If you have a vested interest in our neighborhood it is possible you may join, but you would not be eligible to vote and cannot serve as an officer.
I own a business in Dearborn, can I advertise to your members?
Businesses may join as a Business Member. Business Membership dues are $25.00 per year. Business Memberships must be approved by the Board of Directors. Business Members are featured on the full snowwoodsna.org website with a 200 pixel image ad. Business Memberships are not eligible to vote, but the business owner can additionally join as a Regular Member if they live within the SWNA boundaries, or as an Associate Member if they live outside the SODA boundaries.
Do you endorse or support political candidates?
No. We do not endorse candidates and we are not affiliated with political parties. Additionally, persons holding an elected government office cannot serve on the SWNA Board of Directors.
